IPCC: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - often referred to as the "World Climate Council" - is an institution of the United Nations. Experts worldwide regularly compile and assess the current state of knowledge on climate change on its behalf from a scientific perspective. The IPCC provides the basis for science-based political decisions by presenting various action options and their implications, without proposing specific solutions or giving recommendations for action. Regional Helmholtz Climate Offices

Climate change will manifest differently in various regions. Farmers, coastal engineers, urban planners, as well as decision-makers from politics and businesses need first-hand information to prepare for climate change in their region. Therefore, the Helmholtz Association has decided to establish a nationwide network of regional climate offices. The four regional climate offices consolidate and communicate research findings on regional climate change. Additionally, information needs are identified and integrated into research programs.

Regional Climate Atlas

The Regional Climate Atlas is a joint project of the Regional Helmholtz Climate Offices. Various regional climate scenarios from different models have been compiled and evaluated. The Regional Climate Atlas offers the opportunity to interactively explore possible climate developments for different time periods in the future in various regions of Germany and to view specific maps.
